Biography

Attorney Tom Flanagan has over twenty-one years of legal experience as a state prosecutor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Norfolk, Plymouth and Suffolk Counties, and also served as a Special Prosecutor in the Bristol and Cape and Islands Districts. He has represented the Commonwealth, the community, and victims of crime in thousands of cases in both District and Superior Courts, and has earned a reputation as a dedicated,  skilled, and passionate advocate for his clients, with a proven track record of achieving success in the courtroom with fairness and integrity. 


Over more than two decades in the courtroom as a prosecutor, Tom has gained courtroom and trial experience in cases ranging from misdemeanors like Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence (OUI)  and other motor vehicle-related charges, Civil Rights Violations, illegal narcotics and firearm-related offenses, to the most serious violent felonies, and prosecuted dozens of Murder, Manslaughter and Motor Vehicle Homicide cases as lead trial counsel for the Commonwealth.


Tom was raised in Millis, MA and attended Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, where he graduated in 1985. He went on to attend Boston College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 1989.  While working as a Sales and Marketing Representative at North Eastern Analytical Corporation in Millis, he earned a Master’s Degree in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations in 1993.  Tom attended Suffolk University Law School and received his law degree in 1998.


Attorney Tom Flanagan lives in Mansfield with his wife Jacqueline, a teacher at Medfield High School, and their three children and two dogs (Thank you, Forever Homes Rescue of Medfield, MA!) Tom has been active in the communities he lives in, serving on the Millis Youth Commission, as a member and chairman of the Millis Board of Selectmen, and as a member of the Millis Lions Club and Knights of Columbus Council. After moving with his family to Mansfield in 2001, Tom  served on the Mansfield Industrial and Development Commission,  volunteered as an assistant youth sports coach, and is a member of the Tri-Town and Walpole Chambers of Commerce.  Tom and his family are long-time Boston College sports fans and season ticket holders for B. C. Football.
